Fianarantsoa- Pirogue descent of the Haute Matsiatra river- Sahambavy - Ranomafana

Departure at 7:00 from the town of Fianarantsoa by bush cab or private car gives us another experience to reach the Mahasoabe communal road. The landscape is typical of Betsileo peasant life: terraced rice paddies, livestock and traditional construction... Yet the brightly-colored diversity of the local people's clothing decorates the region, especially on market day.
At the end of the car journey, a 360° panoramic view awaits us before we begin our pirogue adventure.the Mahatsiatra will be a good river for our excursion.the river which is the origin of Madagascar's largest river.., granite rocks and rice fields will be crossed, yet for nature lovers some endemic bird species will be encountered like the black-crowned night heron, Madagascan foudia, Madagascan kingfisher... as for the break, tombs and commemorative stones will explain the origin of the land of the tribe's ancestors. At midday, you can take a dip in the local waterfall before enjoying a picnic lunch. In the afternoon, the end of the pirogue trip is near, so it's time for a walk across fields and hills to reach another rural commune, Sahambavy. Sahambavy is the site of Madagascar's largest tea plantation, where you can visit the factory before admiring the panoramic view over the tea fields.
At the end of the tour, we are picked up by private car or bush cab to continue our journey to Fianarantsoa.
